Hello!

Aside from managing social media I work on a lot of the in-game assets that will be present in the StarMade universe. A few others and I will use this thread to show off the work being done on the latest builds and maybe tease future releases. We will also talk about the design philosophies that go into each build and help define who these factions are and why they build the way they do!


Now we want to give some personality and purpose...

What is a titan?

Yes, I know that it is a big ship, but what I would like to know, (without starting another debate on ship classifications) is what sort of stats each of you personally considers to be a titan? And not just in terms of size, but stats as well. How much power cap? e/s? Shields? Thrust? Armor?
Would especially love to hear from some folks with pvp faction experience (just vague numbers is great, no need to give away your best ships' secrets).

Let's get something similar to the note block in minecraft only different. Rather than just being able to add annoying alarms we're able to put sound into our environments ourself.

We hear the ambient sound from the core on repeat, why not use the same scripts to give life to our creations.

Suggestion:

Ambient sounds on repeat until shut down via logic.

Examples:
-birds chirping on planets
-escaping oxygen when airlocks open
-alarms going off
-factory motors going
-water flowing
-Crowds...

Back in the old days, docking enhancers were there to stop you docking something massive to something small. this made sense.

These new mass enhancers don't do that. They just slow down heavy structures, meaning a ship using them for moving large things is being punished a power penalty for being cool.

I understand them for turrets. A downside to putting all your gun on a single turret, I get that. But on standard rails, they do nothing unless your trying to make something move. And...

To add a Config variable for minimum number of players within a faction to activate homebase invulnerability. leave it turned OFF as default. Something simple as a deterrent for the "one man faction" and form a sort of empires at war feel if a server wishes

A question for the community, what would the best weapon be in this senario:
Your large ship(1mil shield or so? You can support reasonably large weapons) is fighting another large ship and you just downed their shields. Before their shields reboot, try to do the most damage possible to them. What would your weapon combo(s) be? C/c/e? M/P/e? Tell me.

I was thinking of something like passwords...
For example,you can lock Doors,or perhaps Docking modules with passwords,or something like that...So no griefer will destroy it :D

New version, completely redone! (Can't get the images to the right place atm)

Currently it's very hard to keep an overview of a ship or a station and all docked entities. It's also a big hassle to enter a specific entity's core or to access a specific Bobby AI module. Additionally, it's impossible to make an entity stop draining power from its host or to stop shield recharging to conserve power. What we need is an O.V.E.R.V.I.E.W.:

Things You Never Use

Okay, so how about a nice little discussion/listing of things in Starmade that you personally never use. Either because you consider it too weak, or too difficult. Aka, things that really should be looked at for a revamp.

Power/Shield Drain: I don't use either of these for any reason. Power transfer I use in docked reactors, but the drain beams are completely worthless to me when I can stick EMP or ION onto actual weapons for much greater effect.

Pulse: Not for primary, almost never for...
